INFORMATION GUIDELINES
FOR GRANTS COMMITTEE
The
The recipients of these grants will be determined by a Grants Committee
appointed by the President of the
The Grants Committee is to ensure the applicants meet the following
criteria:
1. The application form was in the hands of the NSFHL secretary on or
before July 20th, confirmed by Secretary of NSFHL.
2.
Applicant is registered
on a team in the NSFHL in the current season, confirmed by
Secretary of NSFHL
3. Applicant
is a registrant, in good standing, in both the NSFHL and the SHA, confirmed by
Secretary of NSFHL
4. Applicant
is a graduating Grade 12 student during this year.
5. Applicant
is planning on attending a Canadian University, College or Post Secondary
Institution.
6. Applicant
is planning to attend the above educational institution within two (2) years,
to take advantage of this grant. (The Grant will be paid, upon proof of
enrolment, which will be in the form of a receipt(s) from the educational
institution the recipient is attending.
Payment of the grant will be made directly to the applicant.)
7. The
applicant has not received this grant before as recipients are only eligible to receive a grant once.
8. The
applicant has attached two (2) letters of reference to the application form.

9. The
applicant has attached a “copy” of an official signed transcript of their final
Grade XII (level 30 subjects) marks from their school or the Department of
Education.
DISTRIBUTION OF POINTS IS AS FOLLOWS:
1. Scholastic
Standing - this is based on the average of the applicant’s top five (5)
marks achieved in the core subject areas only.
Select from:
One of: English A30 or
English B30 or English Language Arts A30 or English Language Arts B30.
One of Mathematics A30 or Mathematics B30 or Mathematics C30 or Calculus
30.
Plus a combination of three 30-level subjects from the following
categories:
Natural Science (maximum of two subjects may be selected from: Biology,
Chemistry, Computer Science (l.0), Geology, Physics, Mathematics/Calculus* (only
one subject can be used in this category - not two)
Social Science orHumanities (maximum of two subjects may be selected from: Christian Ethics
(Religious Studies), English* (only one subject can be used in this category -
not two), Economics, Geography, History, Languages (any approved language other
than English), Law, Native Studies, Psychology, Social Studies, Sociology, Work
Religions
Fine and Performing Arts (maximum of one subject may be selected from: Art, Art
Education, Band, Choir, Choral, Drama, Music, Orchestra, Visual Arts, Physical
Education - for Kinesiology applicants only, this subject may be used in the
admission average
Value
of this area: 50 points
(i.e., if the applicant’s average is 96%, points allocated would be 48
points - average divided by 2)
