President Al Jellicoe welcomed everyone to the Annual Meeting.

 

Introductions were completed around the table.

 

Minutes of April 12, 2008 - Motion by Jeff Willoughby and seconded by Scott Perry to adopt the minutes of April 12, 2008 as circulated.                                           Carried.

 

Treasurer’s Report - Motion by Debbie Baker and seconded by Darrel Hedman to adopt the Treasurer’s report as presented by outgoing treasurer Debbie Baker. Carried.

 

League Fees and Bond – Moved by Darrel Hedman and seconded by Marvin Denysiuk that for 2008 – 2009 season League Fees will be $150.00 and League Bond will be $200.00. Bonds will be cashed and may be reimbursed if requested in writing to the League Treasurer.                                                                                             Carried.

 

Amendments to the Constitution – It was moved by John Hirsh and seconded by Dave Wieghtman to change the format for the NSFHL as circulated and presented by Judy Jackson.

 

Correspondence

            - Letter of gratitude from Callie Lytle of Dinsmore, scholarship recipient 2008.

 

            - Letter from Bev Brooks, Biggar Bantams, requesting to enter Division 2.

 

-         Letter from Ken Carson, Lloydminster Minor Hockey stating they will not be entering a team for the 2008-2009 season.

 

Moved by Marvin Denysuik and seconded by Jeff Willoughby to file correspondence. Carried.

 

Old Business

1. Discussion around starting the season early and starting playoffs after the February school break. All school districts have different dates.

 

New Business

 

1.                  New Teams

            It was moved by Donna Levasseur and seconded by Terry Shea to accept Moose Jaw into the Division 1.                                                                   Carried

 

It was moved by Nelson Boychuk and seconded by Dave Westbury to accept Swift Current into the Division 1.                                                                      Carried

 

It was moved by Donna Levasseur and seconded by Marvin Denysuik to conditionally accept Southey into the Division 1                      Carried. Team withdrew.

 

It was moved by Terry Shea and seconded by Jeff Willoughby to accept Biggar into the Division 2.                                                                                          Carried.

 

It was moved by Terry Shea and seconded by Jeff Willoughby to accept Kindersley/Rosetown into the Division 2.                                         Carried.

 

 

2.         Scheduling Meeting – It was moved by John Hirsch and seconded by  Dave Weightman to hold the Scheduling meeting Saturday October 4, 2008 at 1:00pm in Prince Albert. Venue TBA.                                                                                         Carried.

 

3.         Number of games to be played – It was moved by Dave Wieghtman and seconded by Dave Westbury to keep number of regular season games as stated in constitution (12 to 20)                                                                                                        Carried.

 

4.         Web Site – A lot of discussion on the appearance of the nsfhl web site and the cost of up keep. Discussion of the number of teams at $75.00 is starting to be a lot of money. Judy to check with Dale Willick on a flat rate and what he can do to make the site more attractive. Comparison of costs to other web pages will be included at the October 4 meeting.                  Tabled until October 4th scheduling meeting. 

 

5.         NSFHL Crests – It was moved by Dave Westbury and seconded by John Hirsch to purchase 1000 nsfhl crests to be mandatory for all teams playing in the NSFHL. All teams to wear crests in a common place. Left or right sleeve of jerseys will be determined at October 4,2008 scheduling meeting.  John Hirsch to order crests through company in Melfort.                                                                               Carried.

 

6.         NSFHL Jackets – Source for Sports in Prince Albert has a deal on jackets for anyone wanting to order with the NSFHL Logo.  See Judy if interested.

 

7.         Sunday Ice Time – It was moved by John Hirsch and seconded by Scot Perry that there be appropriate ice times for Sunday’s. A 4:00pm ice time is the latest a game can start for all teams that travel a distance of over 2 hours. There is an exception to this rule only if BOTH teams agree to the time set out.                                Carried

 

8. Discussion around AP’s and number of games they can/must play before they can play with a team for playoffs. This is a constitutional change and must be brought forward in writing 30 days before the Annual meeting.  NO changes.

It was moved by Judy Jackson and seconded by Kerry Wendel that Eric Bolay be the Treasurer for the NSFHL and set up an account in Prince Albert.       Carried.

Referee in Chief – Jim Jackson (Prince Albert, Darrel Hedman (Tisdale)
